About us
K-UTEC is a renowned service provider for the global mining and natural resources industry with unique expertise and several decades of experience in extracting and producing inorganic salts and hydroxides of lithium, potassium, magnesium, boron and other alkali, alkaline earth, rare earth and so-called energy metals. We support our clients from geophysical exploration and geological resource assessment through chemical and physical process development and planning, including laboratory and pilot-scale testing, supply of key equipment, commissioning and operational optimisation. We also advise our clients on backfilling, geomechanics and mine closure planning.

With a strong focus on process engineering, K-UTEC develops, tests, designs and optimizes processes and plants for the extraction and processing of inorganic salts, oxides and hydroxides. The company works with raw salts, brines, seawater, bitterns, process waters, industrial residues and strategic energy metals such as lithium, copper, cobalt and rare earth elements.
Process Technologies
K-UTEC covers a broad range of chemical-physical processing and separation technologies. These include mechanical processing such as grinding, crushing and screening, flotation, membrane separation processes, fractional crystallization by solar and/or industrial evaporation, hot leaching processes with cooling crystallization, double salt decomposition, brine purification using ion exchangers, controlled precipitation, solid-liquid separation, drying and electrolysis.
Raw Materials and Feedstocks
K-UTEC develops and designs processes for inorganic mineral raw materials, oceanic raw salts, strategic energy metals, natural and technical brines, salt lakes, seawater, bitterns, industrial process waters and wastewaters, as well as solid waste and industrial residues containing inorganic valuable components.
Relevant raw materials and compounds include lithium, copper, cobalt, rare earth elements, germanium, and recycling streams from battery scrap, hydroxide sludges, electrolytes and metal-containing residues.
